Location
Located in Ellensburg, Washington, Central Washington University rests between the Cascade Mountains and Columbia River in the scenic Kittitas Valley. One may stroll through the historic downtown area or wonder through the serene Japanese Gardens of the campus to experience the beauty and history of Ellensburg. Home to a much drier climate than that of Seattle and the western part of the state, Ellensburg has become a popular weekend retreat for west coast residents.

Demographic
Central Washington University was originally founded in 1891 to educate future elementary and secondary teachers. Today teaching remains one of its primary majors. With 9,500 undergraduate and 600 graduate students, CWU is the fastest growing college in Washington State. They offer a number of undergraduate degrees in the colleges of Arts, Arts in Education, Fine Arts, Music, and Science. CWU is quickly becoming the university of choice for many first generation college students, who structure 40% of the student population.
