Where your college search begins

March Madness is taking over people's lives!

Everywhere I go, I'm overhearing talk of NCAA Tournament brackets and Final Four picks, March Madness upsets and obvious Championship choices. But one thing that's really interesting to me is how little I know about some of the schools that have made it this far in the basketball tournaments.

The colleges are decent, or exceptional, in basketball. That's obviously a given. Sometimes I recognize the mascots. Other than that, what do I know about Gonzaga University or Wofford College? Other than that they have really great names? Not much.

But since deciding on a college is about more than just picking the names that are familiar – it's a chance to explore things and places I've never thought of. It's kind of a fun launching pad. Being able to search for schools I've never heard of and decide how they stack up against the schools I've heard of all my life. Learning more about their missions, their strengths, their surrounding areas. So now I know that while neither of them made it past the first round, I've discovered that Wofford is a small, liberal arts school and Gonzaga follows Jesuit traditions. And I still have a lot more schools to explore! It's a fun journey.

Plus, at least I know wherever I go, I know I'll be able to catch a great basketball game!
