A Question For New College Freshmen

Wow- it's almost midterms! What happened to this fall??

Anyway, a question for college freshmen. You've had a chance now to get acclimated to campus, get to know a few people in your classes and are starting to get the hang of this whole college thing.

Here is what I'm wondering: This fall there are large numbers of adults (or non-traditional students) going back to college. Have you noticed any in your classes? What do you think of that? Have you had the chance to work with any? Is it different than working with students your own age? Do you like it?

Oops, that was 5 questions, not one. But I am very curious to see what is happening on campuses around the country and would love to hear your feedback! Please leave a comment if you've noticed these students... or if you are a non traditional student in classes with many traditional age students!

Shannon's Gravatar I am a freshman and in all of my classes there are non-traditional students. I find it very refreshing to interact with the diverse group of people that attend my classes. They usually have some interesting experiences to add to class discussions. I also think they take college more seriously than some traditional students (some of whom are only going because they are expected to or because they get a "free ride").

Nikki @ Anycollege's Gravatar Thanks Shannon! Your comment about them taking college more seriously is an interesting one- I might have to look into that a little more.
